Hampton: Worst loss ever part 2 Comments
Had a night to think about the Seattle loss.
One thing that was all too evident was the Redhawks looked to be much more athletic than the Beavers.
They beat the Beavers to the basket for layins, beat them to loose balls and got open shots all night.
While I wouldn’t say the Beavers quit, their defensive intensity certainly faded in the second half.
Offensively, OSU had problems shooting the ball. You can’t beat anyone shooting 31.7 percent from the field. This has become an ongoing issue for this team. Some players seem to lack the athleticism to create offense, others are so streaky that the team can’t rely on them to come through consistently.
Craig Robinson has talked about the Beavers’ confidence and how hard it’s been to handle high expectations. I’m now wondering how much damage playing on an 0-18 Pac-10 team for a sinking ship staff really did to these players.
They were able to overcome it to a degree last year, but a few bad losses this season seems to have them back on the brink of spiraling downward. Robinson the coach and counselor has his work cut out for him.
