Hampton: Robinson meets media Comments
Craig Robinson met with the local media on Tuesday to talk about OSU men’s basketball, the past weekend, tonight’s game with Seattle and his new son, Austin.
Check out my story online at www.gazettetimes.com or in Wednesday’s paper.
Robinson also spent some time talking about his freshmen players. He said that Angus Brandt, Jared Cunningham and Joe Burton have progressed well.
“ I think now we have to look to them for help in bit parts now that we’ve gotten into the league. I don’t think any of them are ready to be starters yet,” Robinson said. “We’re pretty happy with their progress. Everybody’s got things to work on, which includes the freshmen, but I’ve been pretty pleased with their progress.”
Whether or not Rhys Murphy or Roberto Nelson will play this season remains to be seen. Robinson said it’s unlikely that Murphy will get on the court before next year. Nelson is still a slight possibility.
If they don’t, they will be big additions for 2010-11.
“The two guys who haven’t played yet, Rhys Murphy and Roberto Nelson, could very well be our two best freshmen,” Robinson said. “Roberto looks good now, this is the first time he’s been working out with the team, and on some days he looks like the best guy out there. And before Rhys got hurt he was always one of the best guys out there. We’ll see how things work out, but that might augment our 2010 class if those guys can’t play this year.”
