Hampton: A Presidential win Comments
It looks like it took the President in the stands for the Oregon State men’s basketball team to break through for a big win.
The Beavers needed a win in the worst way after starting 1-3 and losing to Sacramento State in Gill Coliseum last week.
They got it on the road at previously unbeaten George Washington. And the Beavers got it done with President Barack Obama in the stands.
Talk about high expectations.
The Beavers seemed inspired by Obama’s presence and played their best game of the young season. They consistently beat GWU’s pressure defense, often getting free for easy baskets.
They played well defensively and shot well from the free-throw line.
It might not have been perfect – OSU squandered a big lead and then held on for the win – but the Beavers couldn’t have asked for a better ending to a trip they will remember for a lifetime.
