Hampton: OSU men’s bb Comments

Hung out during the Beavers’ practice on Monday.

The Beavers went through the usual warm-ups and shooting drills before getting down to business.

Coach Robinson had the team run through dummy offense drills, getting the team up to speed on the ins and outs of the offense.

Then the Beavers went to a half-court scrimmage-type situation. Roeland Schaftenaar looked sharp shooting the ball, hitting several shots from the perimeter.

My general impression is the team looks athletic and long physically with the combination of the new players and returners.

Schaftenaar looks poised to continue his strong play at point-forward and he should have some help.

Schaftenaar said the first week of practice went well for the Beavers.

“Right now we’re just trying to get plays down, trying to get ready to play again next week. Just putting our defenses (together),” he said.

“For the returning guys the plays are a little easier than for the new guys, so (the coaches are) trying to get everybody up to speed with the plays. That’s pretty much what we’re working on right now.”

We’ll get a good look on Sunday at the exhibition game.
